The Winslow Estate is a Mediterranean-style mansion on a private three-acre peninsula in South Orleans, Massachusetts, with 300 feet of beach and views over Pleasant Bay and the Atlantic. It doesn't feel like a Cape Cod wedding venue. It feels closer to a coastal estate in Italy, which is exactly why couples fly Stagger up there to film it.
Winslow weddings are usually weekend-long. That changes how we approach the film: we're not just covering a ceremony and reception, we're covering arrivals, a rehearsal dinner, a sunset on the dock, a slower morning the day after. The film has more chapters because the day has more chapters. That structure is the whole appeal of a destination wedding for us.
The light here is the other reason to come. Water on three sides means reflections are constantly changing the color temperature of a scene. We bring a wider range of lenses for this venue than we would for a Philly ballroom, because the same spot at 4pm and 7pm gives you two completely different films.
